| Prof.M.Sankaralingam, M.A., Ex.M.L.C, Ex.M.P., is the founder of the college. With the motto of rural education in mind, he established Arignar Anna College in Aralvaymoli, Kanyakumari District, in the year 1970. Endowed with vast political and social influence,he started the college as a 1st grade from the beginning. The college became a success story with this untiring hard work and dedication.

Prof.M.Sankaralingam started his educational career as a Primary school teacher in the year 1952 and rose to become the principal of two arts and science colleges in Kanyakumari District.
Born in a nationalist agricultural family at Therekalputhoor, Nagercoil in the year 1927, he worked an a school teacher from 1952 to 1958, and joined as Lecturer in S.T Hindu College, Nagercoil from 1959 to 1967. He became the principal of Pioneer kumaraswamy College from 1967 to 1968. In 1970 Prof.M.Sankaralingam started this college and was the first principal and correspondent of the college. He served as the principal till 1984 and correspondent till 2000 for thirty years.

Political Career
Prof.M.Sankaralingam was elected as the member of Tamilnadu Legislative council (M.L.C) in the year 1964, from Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli teacher's constituency. He was reelected again in 1966, 1972, and 1978. He was the leader of the opposition in the council from 1978 to 1984.
He was elected to the Rajyasabha in 1998 from the TamilNadu Assembly constituency and served with distinction as Member of Parliment till 2004. He was the member of the Coconut Board of India and member of Finance and Railway Committes.
He participated in the quit india movement in the year 1942, while he was a high school student.
He was the leading light in the Travancore-Cochin struggle for merge the Tamil areas of kanyakumari district with Tamilnadu.

He was the Member of the Madurai Kamarajar University syndicate from 1969 to 1978 and also the senate member from 1970 to 1984.He was the member of the governing board of Tamil Nadu Agricultural university, Coimbatore from 1978 to 1984.
Our beloved Founder Prof.M.Sankaralingam M.A.Ex.M.L.A, Ex.M.P Left this World for Heavily abode on 15.01.2016, at the ripe old age of 89 years. His Life Size Bronze Statue Was Unveiled infront of the college Campus with a surrounding Serene Garden on 15.12.2018.
